My Own EA Sports Active Challenge!!

Now since its almost 1 am as I type this, technically my very own EA Sports Active challenge will be starting today!!

I would love to say that I'm just pudgy, but I'm not... I'm about coughfiftycough pounds overweight and I've got to do something about it!!!

Thanks to EA Sports, I was able to receive the EA Sports Active for the Wii and I'm super stoked to start being serious and getting into some sort of shape. Preferably one that's not as round as I am now.

I've lacked the motivation to even look at it yet, which is just depressing as all hell, but I ate the last of the ice cream in the house tonight and won't be replacing it for at least 30 days while I do this. When I can prove to myself that I can accomplish something like this, then MAYBE, I'll allow it back in the house. Until then... hasta luego ice cream and cookies.

A little bit more about EA Sports Active:

  • Game includes a deep co-operative multiplayer game mode.
  • Engage in fitness made easy through 20 minute circuits feature a variety of familiar activities that target upper body, lower body as well as cardio.
  • Follow the guidance, motivation and training tip of your very own virtual personal trainer.
  • 30 day challenge' of tailor made 20 minute workouts, that change as you progress each day, and track calories, intensity and progress throughout your journey.
  • Gameplay/workout options are extended with the included Nunchuck strap and resistance band accessories, and compatibility with the Wii Balance Board (not included).
Soo... with all that said, I'm having a 30 day, daily entry giveaway to go along with my challenge!!

Want to win EA Sports Active for yourself?? Post a comment here with something fitness related, something easy that you do to cut a few calories, to burn a few extra pounds off?? Leave me a tip, a recipe, anything that will help me on my journey!! You'll also be able to comment on my weekly update posts as a valid entry!!

Extra entries?? They are different this time around!!
You can tweet this giveaway daily, using @caseydeuce and #easactive.
Post this giveaway on your blog, facebook, myspace or any other social site or message board, leaving me the link to it.

This giveaway will close at 11:59 pm est, June 30th. Winner will be drawn with random.org and emailed. When you go to a shopping center, park far away so that you can walk. Take a daily walk every day. Check your blood pressure regularly too.

mar June 1, 2009 at 2:03 AM

When I get a food craving between meals, I wait 30 minutes before caving in. I find by waiting 30 minutes I do not cave in to in-between meal snacking!

Unknown June 1, 2009 at 3:07 AM

I so need this program! I'm overweight too and I lack motivation. Walking around your neighborhood is agreat way to burn calories.

MOMFOREVERANDEVER June 1, 2009 at 3:24 AM

eat at a table and drink lots of liquid when eating- get up and wait for desert so dinner settles

ky2here June 1, 2009 at 5:42 AM

Apple cider vinegar to cut hunger pangs. Rinse mouth liberally with water afterward - vinegar is acetic acid and NOT good for your teeth.

peg42 June 1, 2009 at 7:03 AM

Drink plenty of water. Water is really amazing. It not only cuts down on hunger, but also flushes your body.

lsfish June 1, 2009 at 7:06 AM

Use a smaller plate for meals and dont have seconds

Danielle June 1, 2009 at 8:41 AM

I love salad, but I tend to kind of defeat the purpose of it being a low calorie meal when I drench it in fattening dressing. I have found that I love the salad spritzers they have out now (my favorite is the caesar spritzer). They are extremely low calorie and yet they taste good and allow me to not have to eat a dry salad to avoid consuming too many calories!

Lisa Weidknecht June 1, 2009 at 10:13 AM

I switched from regular soda to diet soda and lost 20 pounds!!

monky June 1, 2009 at 10:58 AM

I've always had a battle keeping the weight off. I've found that always have healthy snacks around makes a huge difference for me.I live very busy life and if the healthier snacks are not ready and available just to grab and eat I will get something that is awful for me.

:) Thank you for the wonderful giveaway! :)

Sue June 1, 2009 at 10:58 AM

If you MUST have a not-good-for-you snack, make it something like licorice or gummy bears. Little to no fat.

Rita June 1, 2009 at 11:21 AM

I mainly drink water, but if you do drink sodas, alternate between sodas & water throughout the day. Even sugar free sodas/drinks can cause weight gain if you drink too many.

Elena June 1, 2009 at 11:22 AM

My trick to cut calories is to not drink anything with calories--no sodas, juices, alcohol, etc. Good luck and thanks for the contest!

clc408 June 1, 2009 at 11:48 AM

I drink water with just a splash of 100% fruit juice to keep hydrated with a minimum of calories without resorting to artificial sweeteners.

Brooke June 1, 2009 at 12:02 PM

Okay a simple tips is to drink COLD COLD water... Your body has to burn more calories to warm up after the cold water... Not going to lose pounds that way but in addition to working out and eating right it helps...

i eat alot more fruits and salad during the summer which cuts calories and then as a family we love taking walks and going to the park to play

amy mayer,  June 1, 2009 at 3:14 PM

I have yogurt for dessert BUT to get my chocolate fix without eating fatty chocolate desserts I chop a handful of dark chocolate pieces and stir into the yogurt--so a low-fat, antioxident healthy dessert! (comment by bajjmayer@aol.com)

Good luck on the challenge. I tried to get into this, I am in the same boat as you weight and health wise. Don't forget to eat a low fat high fiber diet to help your progress along. And I look forward to reading about your experience with this Wii Active exercise, sure looks like a fun and exciting way to exercise. I really want to get one of those.

Sunnyvale June 1, 2009 at 3:33 PM

Unknown June 1, 2009 at 5:58 PM

When you buy fruits and vegetables at the store, wash and cut them up when you first bring them home, that way, they are all ready to eat and you won't reach for the junk. Thanks.

I like to ride my bike to the gym! Extra workout! & agree with another commenter...I like to look for a parking spot farther back...the walk is good for us!

A big tip is to EAT... Most people stop eating to lose weight but the fact is you have to eat to lose weight.. Small meals all day and I mean small... That way your body doesn't "store" that food because it knows more is coming...

When you really have that craving for something yummy and sweet - just have a serving of sugar free Jello. The sugar free variety tastes better than the original in my opinion and it makes you feel like you're eating something sinful but you're not! I make this up ahead of time and keep it in the fridge in serving size containers whenever the cravings hit I grab one.

When you get that urge to eat or snack between meals just eat a small handful of nuts or take a wedge of bread and dredge it in some olive oil, this will help give you a sense of a full filling.

Also air popped popcorn is a big help when you have those munchy moments.

Danielle June 5, 2009 at 3:49 PM

Before giving in to a treat, ask yourself if it is worth giving up something else you may want later or the extra exercise you will need to do to burn it off. If it is...go for it without regret, but if it isn't get it out of your sight right away.

I am trying to work on changing my own weight issues. One of the things that I have been doing is making sure that I drink plenty of water. Did you know that your body can mistake hunger for a need for water? I have increased my water intake to reduce that fake hunger pang, AND I bought special smaller plates so when I eat, I kind of fool my eyes into thinking I am eating more than I am. Good luck! Something to do that's easy and cheap, go vegetarian for a while. I've been a vegetarian for over two years and it's made me feel so much better and I've become more toned. It also helps cuts calories a lot. I'd also suggest trying to find a buddy. It's a lot easier if you have a friend to walk with or eat a healthy meal with. LeBizyB June 10, 2009 at 2:57 PM

My tip would be to drink lots of water, all through the day and especially before meals. Also, get out and exercize. If you can't get out often purchase a treadmill or exdercize bike and put to use expecially when watching TV or a movie. Instead of watching just sitting why not exercize at the same time.

if you dessert--cut back just a little to get a small start on the sugar/calorie reduction--if you normally eat 3 cookies-then cut back to 2, if you normally have 3 scoops of ice cream-cut back to 1-2--you still get the treat only a lesser amount and you will find it still satisfies the sweet tooth! I don't buy junk food (chips, little debbie snacks, etc.) but once a month. That way I'm not stuffing them down throughout the month, slowly gaining weight. I still eat pizza, tacos, etc .. But for me it's the snacks that REALLY get me gaining those lbs. I'm a binge snacker, if you will. Therefore, I only buy them once a month, so I don't go overboard throughout the year.

Boy would I love this! I have the Wii Fit board - and it's AWESOME, but I've gotten pretty bored with the games on it...it's been many months...

But in the real world, I don't get bored walking. A bunch of people have posted what I do: Park as far away from the store as possible. I have a god and take her for 4-5 walks a day (I work from home) for a mile each at least..

I'm still a fatty, but maybe walking, PLUS EA Sports Active will make me THIN AGAIN! YES!

Mommy 2 Bears June 11, 2009 at 11:10 PM

Do the Wii yoga. It amazes me how in an air conditioned house I get sweat bending. And not bending well either.

tie three strings around your finger. If you get cravings or get hungry and cave in; untie the string. at the end of the day, check to see how many strings you have tied, for every string you untie punch yourself in the stomach 3 times.

Don't totally deprive yourself of the little indulgences. If you complete cut out everything you will crack and then binge. Indulge occasionally.

Jessilyn82 June 13, 2009 at 3:21 PM

My tip is to eat the things you love, just in smaller portions. You won't feel deprived but you'll still lose weight!

When you are getting out of a chair, do not use your hands to assist you. Rise using only the power of your legs. Great exercise for the legs.

I make a weight belt, and wear it around my waist. The added weight rides easily, I can adjust it for more or less weight, and it actually braces my back. I use weights that I buy at Wal-Mart for about $10-20 a set...

The best way to burn extra calories is to get a dog. Not everyone can do this but if you can, go to the local shelter and adopt a dog. They will keep you active. They need walks and love to play frisbee and to fetch balls.

Cut out friend foods and try to stick to seafood and chicken. Cut out canned goods. I went from 178 to 150 in two months by doing this.

Damn, why didn't I see this one sooner. You know I've been working it out, right? Hmm well I guess I have a few tips lol!

Do not shop when hungry
Drink cold water, your body burns calories naturally bringing it up to a warmer temperature.
Be mindful of portions
EAT! Ugh it kills me when people don't eat because they want to lose weight.
Also, drinking water throughout the day helps curb my appetite. I've found sometimes when I feel like I'm hungry, it's really just my body needing hydration.
