Sometimes you gotta play the part...

I'm going to be sneaking away this weekend. A friend and I will be heading up to the lake for a couple nights and I'm so truly looking forward to a little break from the day to day grind.

For those of you that know me, this may not come as much of a surprise, but lets recap... I'm a 28 (almost 29) year old mother of two kids who bartends, waitresses and helps manage a restaurant. I'll say that my taste in music is all over the place and I love so much, but one of my all time favorites which may be out of touch with my age, is Elvis Presley...

With that being said, with this little escape, I'll be hitting up the Elvis Presley festival up at the lake and I figured I should play into it a little bit. Maybe subtly? I had to do something to play the part and I didn't want to go all sequined-jumpsuit-over-the-top. I cashed in some swagbucks not too long ago for some amazon.com codes that have just been sitting in my account. I picked up the hottest pair of bright blue suede shoes to wear out on one of the two nights I'll be there.

What do you think? Am I playing into it a bit much, or are these gonna look great with a little black dress for a nice night out??

Updating!!

I figured its that time again! Time for a more personal post, sharing what's been going on with me in my own little world.

Things are FINALLY starting to mellow out. No where near as much scrambling for sitters and whatnot, thank God. It was really starting to wear on me. I will say though that I'm completely blessed with some really awesome friends and family in my life that have been sticking by my side.

I received a promotion at work, so thankfully I'll have some more guaranteed money coming in. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE serving and tending bar, but sometimes its just really hard to manage money when all you have is cash. There's no guarantee on that and with this new position, I'm one step above serving and bartending, but one step below management. Little more responsibility, little more money, but no where near as much aggravation (or money) as management makes. Its a in-between kind of thing, and I'm cool with it for the time being.

The end of the school year is coming so quickly, just about 3 more short weeks for Miss Boug and then we'll be into summer vacation. I'm somewhat looking forward to a break from packing her lunches and laying out her clothes, but at the same time, I'm shocked that my baby girl will be heading into SECOND! grade next year. Where oh where does the time even go??

Lil' Buddy is getting soooo big! My boy is going to be THREE this summer!! He's a beast and he towers over his little friends, but he's such a sweetheart. I'm desperately hoping I can break him of his stinkin' binky habit this summer. Fingers crossed.

What else can I say?? Things are finally simmering down and I'm sooooo not complaining one bit about it!! Lets hope I'm not jinxing myself by embracing it!!

Fashionable rain gear for when the weather outside is less than delightful

Guest post written by Emily Tiller

Even though I love spring and summer weather, I have to say that my favorite season is winter. I love all the fashion possibilities that it brings. But even when it's warmer outside and rainy, you can get away with a little more fashion options through rain gear. I hate to admit it, but I do own more rain gear than I need. I just see it as another great way to express my taste in fashion!

I've always thought that anything worth wearing is worth putting some fashion-forwarding thinking into. I was online looking for another umbrella aft! er my best one broke last week. While I was searching for umbrellas online, I came across some broadband plans that get you speed. The more information about them I read, the more I liked them, so I ordered one of them for my home internet service.

I was lucky enough to find this huge clearance sale on fashionable rain gear and bought more than just an umbrella. At least this is stuff I know I'm really going to use.

Keep up to date with the collection, and win!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ogilvy Interactive for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I feel like there has been so much going on in the world lately, and there's so much to keep up with that it sometimes is difficult. I catch different news stories on different stations. I see different headlines while checking my email. I always feel like I miss something when I read the local papers on Sunday, cause face it, trying to keep up with it all only once a week just isn't enough sometimes. I don't own an iPad (yet) but knowing now that the collection app is available and it puts all the ever-changing news into an appazine (like magazine, get it??) I know that its going to be such a huge resource in keeping up to date. Not only that, but its interactive, with audio, video, 3D animation and much much more. Thanks, the collection. Now I want an iPad even more.

Do you own an iPad? If so, I definitely suggest checking out the app available from the app store! The Collection is a must-have for keeping up on all sorts of news and global information, keeping it right at your fingertips, all in one place, no matter where you are with your iPad.

Do you not have an iPad yet? Me neither, and I lust after them daily. Even without owning one, I know that this app could be such a great resource for keeping up to date. You have a fighting chance of getting your hands one one of those coveted iPads, FREE, when you enter into the giveaway going on now on twitter! Easy-peasey (or easy-tweetsy?) entry, all you have to do is tweet the following message: "Stay up-to-date with current events by using #thecollection iPad App"  You can check out all the rules and then  enter to win, and the fabulous iPad will also give you the collection service for the remainder of the year!

Celebrate National Donut Day & Help the Salvation Army!

I'm thinking that this event is the last hurrah before the diet officially starts up again. I mean, I can't celebrate donut day without having at least ONE... :)
Coming up on June 3rd, is National Donut Day, and this year Entenmann's has partnered up to honor the Salvation Army. They were the ones who served donuts to the troops during World War II. Though donuts are great, they are celebrating in a different way. For every "like" that Entenmann's receives on their facebook page, they'll donate $1 to the Salvation Army, up to $10,000, between May 2nd and June 3rd. While on their FB page, make sure you enter into their grand prize drawing for one of 10 iPads!

As silly as it sounds, I look through my own facebook homepage at the silly stuff that friend of mine "like" and I laugh sometimes. I'm happy to let everyone know about Entenmann's National Donut Day and what can be achieved by giving them a like as well!!

Want to win a coupon for $5.00 off of an Entenmann's product? Have you entered the Donut Day giveaway? Head to their FB and enter, let me know here that you did! I have TWO of these coupons to give away to TWO lucky winners!

Extra Entries??

This giveaway will accept entries until 11:59 am on Monday, June 6th. Winner will be drawn with random.org and emailed. Winner must reply within 24 hours to winning email or a new winner will be drawn. Please make sure that your email is accessible, whether in the comment or a blogger profile, cause if I cant contact you, how can you win?

Save yourself from a "monthly mishap" (giveaway!)

Sometimes I think, "Man, being a chick is a pain in the butt!" Granted, sometimes I think that about being a mom, or about being a single mom, or about work, or about a million other things. But with the whole thinking that being a chick is a pain in the butt, that thought comes like clockwork every. single. month. It might not be the most fun subject that I've covered on A Couch With A View, but I'm all about new products, helpful hints, girl talk and more. This falls in a few of those categories.

Being a busy chick, I turn to products that I know and trust, and I hate to be caught in a potentially embarrassing situation. Since I was young, I've turned to Carefree liners, and I've continued to do so during my adult life. I remember being told by a friend to bring my own "girly products" to the hospital after having a baby, because what they give you is crazy uncomfortable. I grabbed what I trusted off of the drug store shelf. Now a days, I turn to the Carefree Acti-Fresh liners when its that time, and I'm happy I do, cause I haven't had any sort of a slip up with them at all yet. Having a "monthly mishap" is something I try to avoid, with all the running here and there, work, picking up this one from school, bringing that one to a play date, etc etc...

The Carefree Acti-Fresh liners are 40% thinner and up to twice as absorbent, and they even have an odor control system. Its great for making you feel more confident even at your most uncomfortable time of the month.

Want to win a sample pack of the new Carefree Acti-Fresh liners? Have you ever had a "monthly mishap?" How did you deal??

Extra Entries??

This giveaway will accept entries until 11:59 am on Thursday, May 6th. Winner will be drawn with random.org and emailed. Winner must reply within 24 hours to winning email or a new winner will be drawn. Please make sure that your email is accessible, whether in the comment or a blogger profile, cause if I cant contact you, how can you win?

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Carefree and received a product sample and gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Its a super way to get acquainted with other bloggers! I've been loving it since '09 when Speedy started it up!

Monday Mingle from CaseyDeuce on Vimeo.

Last time I mingled, I did put a mention that I might look presentable in a mingle sometime. I say this is as presentable or decent as I'm gonna make it this time around.

I happened to get a few minutes to myself once the kids were asleep for this mingle, so no Boug or Lil' Buddy cameos this time around. :)

My mingle was recorded using a Vado by Creative Labs, that I love very very much!
