Put your health first!
Oh so very often, us as women and mothers tend to put everyone else before ourselves. But we have to remember to take care of our health, because without that, what good are we to the people that we always put first??
Here's a couple of tips for taking care of your own health easily!
-Fill up on fiber! The Journal of Nutrition reports a new study in its May issue that found women who ate a low-glycemic index, fiber-rich breakfast burned more fat when they worked out later in the day than women who ate a high-glycemic index breakfast low in fiber, and were less likely to overeat at lunch. A great start is going with the Bear Naked Fit Granola, or the Bear Naked cereals! Ohmigosh is the cereal good!! I can't even begin to tell you how satisfying, filling and delish the Bear Naked Banana Nut cereal is, even the hub agreed, so that's one easy step to putting yourself in better health.
-Replace the red meat! This is my biggest obstacle yet. Hub's a butcher and he's constantly bringing home steaks and roasts and more so replacing the red meat is extremely difficult around here, but I'm trying! A study published in April by the National Institute of Health found that Americans who consumed the most red meat faced greater rates of death from heart disease and cancer.
-Heap on the heart-healthy whole grains! An April 2009 review in the Archives of Internal Medicine confirmed that a Mediterranean-style diet high in vegetables, nuts, whole grains and olive oil is linked to a decreased risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death of American women. You can try making an easy change by swapping out the mashed potatoes with your meals for the Kashi 7 Whole Grains rice pilaf!
Take a minute to make some easy changes in your life and you'll be on the right track to healthy living before you know it!
