Exergen Temporal Scanner Review & Giveaway!

Ughh.. have you ever had to try and use a rectal thermometer on your infant? If not, I don't suggest trying it, its really not fun, not easy and not convenient in any way. What about those ear thermometers? I thought they would be awesome, but how much does a small child squirm when you put it in their ear?

When I was able to review the Exergen Temporal Scanner thermometer, I was thrilled! With a 7 month old and a 4 year old, and me being neurotic as I am, I do a lot of temperature taking. Its just so difficult to get anyone to sit still even for the time it takes to use the ear one. The Exergen Temporal Scanner is different, its an infared thermometer that takes the temperature from a temporal artery scan. Can you imagine, this thing takes over 1,000 readings per second and is super accurate!

With perks like being able to get away from yucky rectal temperature taking, and keeping the kid from squirming when attempting an ear thermometer, the Exergen Temporal Scanner has high marks in my book. Its so easy, its just a stroke of the scanner across the forehead and its done. Just to prove to myself how easy it was, I let Boug take my temperature, she's 4 guys! A 4 year old can use this!! Its accurate, easy and convenient!! I'm a convenience queen so that is a huge plus!!!

I'm not one to attempt to wake a sleeping baby, but I figured I try to use this while Lil' Buddy was asleep, to see JUST how gentle it really is to a little baby... The boy didn't even flinch, didn't bat an eye, didn't stir and most definitely didn't wake! I'm loving that I can use the Exergen Temporal Scanner to check up on his temperature even after he's fallen asleep!!

Want to know where you can purchase your Exergen Temporal Scanner? Its available at Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Walgreens, Costco, Wal-Mart and more!! You can even order online!!

Want to WIN an Exergen Temporal Scanner thermometer? Post a comment here with what the biggest perk of the Exergen Temporal Scanner is to you!

The biggest perk is the fastness of it. The better the kids will feel not getting held down to take their temps.

Thanks so much and please enter me.

I'm a retired nurse but the temporl scanner is so much easier to use and the accuracies make life easier with children. Actually its great to keep check on anyone and not have to disturb them when taking their temperature. I have always wanted one!

The biggest perk is not having to take the temperature in the mouth! Kids are often skeptical to do that.

The biggest perk is not having to struggle with your child to get a temp! No more under the tongue or armpit.

The biggest perk to me would be being able to give a gift to my granddaughter that would make her more comfortable in taking her baby's temperature when it was necessary.

my thermometer broke and it's rather embarrassing to walk into the doc's office with a sick kid and not be able to tell them what temp they've been running...

So fast and easy to use!

The biggest perk. I have found when you take a temp in the rump usually you get a gift in return. Also I like the quickness.

Anonymous,  March 27, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Biggest perk: just a quick swipe on the forehead and the temperature is read. This would be so handy to have around when you have a very squirmy little one who refuses to sit still even when they are sick.

I think the biggest perk is not having to struggle to read the results of using a regular thermometer. I turn it this way, and that way, and STILL have a problem seeing what the temperature IS! This looks SO EASY! Now WHY didn't someone figure this out years ago when MY children were babies????

I would like to take Gracie's temp without waking her up. That would be a favorite of mine. Thaks!

sphinx63 March 28, 2009 at 9:08 AM

The biggest perk to me is that it actually acurate! We have an ear thermometer now, and it never shows the same temperature, not even close, to what it just showed 2 minutes ago!

Anonymous,  March 28, 2009 at 10:21 AM

Have a great day.

Anonymous,  March 28, 2009 at 11:37 AM

biggest perk for me is even if there is perspiration, i can take a temperature on the back of the neck and still get an accurate reading. plus, it's super fast and easy to use. much better than the old way of taking temps.

thanks for the giveaway and have a lovely weekend.

I'd have to say by how quick it works, and the ease of use. Having a 13-month old, its not easy getting a temp on her.

Dove420 March 29, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Our grandchildren are passed the infant , you know where, themometer but my granddaughter hates anything stuck in her ear and ever try to take a mouth temp from a talkative 7 or 9 yr old? One swipe and a VERY accurate temp is heaven sent.

The biggest perk for me to have the Exergen Temporal Scanner is the ease of taking the temperature. I currently use an ear thermometer but it is not very accurate. I usually take the temperature three times and then average the readings since they can vary by a degree or more! The fact that this is non-invasive and accurate would make everyone's life in my house easier!

Jessica Cote March 29, 2009 at 8:20 PM

I like that it is more accurate than taking an ear temperature and you don't have to worry about jabbing it into a child's ear!

The biggest perk for me would be how easy it is to use and how fast it takes the temp. I have a two year old who HATES to have her temp taken and a newborn on the way. We all know that squirming newborns are terrible to take a temp.

The biggest perk is not having to chase down a sick kiddo. trinitygsd at yahoo dot com

The biggest perk is its accuracy.

Exergen's biggest perk is its ability to take a temp without waking the child. But accuracy is no small thing either.

with 8 kids a great thermometer is a huge perk! and I like how it's the most accurate way to take someone's temperature :)

Kyndra April 8, 2009 at 3:10 AM

The biggest perk of the Exergen for me is not having to insert the thermometer into any body parts and wondering whether my child is uncomfortable!

biggest perk is how easy it is to use

AmyLynn April 8, 2009 at 7:17 AM

The best perk has to be the noninvasive, ease of use.

tlcfromtn April 8, 2009 at 10:19 AM

The biggest perk is that it is quick. Thanks!

I love that it is so gentle and easy to use!

The biggest perk is that I don't have to poke at my son in the middle of the night to take his temperature. He barely has to wake up, if at all.

jodene April 8, 2009 at 12:03 PM

Swipe and read, can't get easier then that.

dvice12 April 8, 2009 at 12:08 PM

The biggest perk is that it's so easy to use with kids

I like its ease of use...swipe, read, accurate temperature! Awesome!!

For me the biggest perk is the fact that it is non-invasive. Trying to get the temp of a squirmy sick kid .. we all know what it's like!

Ally April 8, 2009 at 1:33 PM

The biggest perk. I wouldn't have to hold down my daughter to take her temp.

Roxann April 8, 2009 at 3:02 PM

The biggest perk would be that I wouldn't have to wake my son while taking his temperature.

Roxann April 8, 2009 at 3:03 PM

carolpie April 8, 2009 at 3:31 PM

My biggest perk is that it would be quick and easy. Right now our little one cries when we use a thermometer under her arm and this would end that! It sure would relieve lots of stress on both sides!

My biggest perk is that it would take less time and be so much easier to use on my 5 children.

The biggest perk is not having to wake up the sick child! thanks for the contest!

I love that it can be used while the child is asleep. I hate having to wake up my sick kids just to check their temperature. This would be wonderful!

NASCAR Race Mom April 8, 2009 at 7:48 PM

The biggest perk of the Exergen Temporal Scanner for me would be its ease of use!

Gabriel S-J. April 8, 2009 at 8:44 PM

I like that it is non-invasive.

Mom Union April 8, 2009 at 9:22 PM

This scanner is awesome! You don't have to wake the kiddo to get the temp. Or sticking it somewhere like an alien probe.

I love that it's a totally external method of taking the temp.

Candie L April 8, 2009 at 10:39 PM

It takes way too long to take the temperature under the arm. I need something very quick and painless. Thank you.

I love that you don't have to wake them up!

The biggest perk would be no longer having to do rectal temps. Believe me Brea is not a fan

Unknown April 8, 2009 at 11:38 PM

The biggest perk is that it is fast. You can't hold down my children to take their temperature very long. They squirm and complain when I am taking it orally. This is just a quick swipe on the forehead. This would be a life saver.

Biggest perk? I could sneak in at night and use it while my son is still asleep!

Unknown April 9, 2009 at 1:11 AM

My biggest perk is not having to make my daughter any more miserable then she already is. I can just swipe it across her forhead and be done

Jinxy and Me April 9, 2009 at 1:13 AM
