Girls Can't What?!?!?!

Ever been told you CANT because your a GIRL??

If you're anything like me, that is a load of CRAP! And Gretchen over at Girls Can't What? thinks so too. She created Girls Can't What? in 2005, since she's not your typical girly girl. She grew up with the guys and played football, raced BMX bikes and played little league right along with them. She even had an aweful car accident in high school and was told she wouldn't walk again... but this girl CAN what? Oh yeah... she CAN walk! She even was the only female percussion major in college, in a field full of guys. Yeah, she's been told in the past that she can't cause she's a girl.

At the Girls Can't What? website, you can even share your story of when you were told that you couldn't because you are a girl. How were you inspired to face that? Head over there and tell Gretchen!

Girls Can't What? is aimed at girls and women of all ages, people who aspire to do all sorts of different things... career themed shirts for the ladies that want to be mechanics or cops and more, shirts for the military woman and so much more from sports, to music and everything in between. Its not just limited to shirts! Are you a 4 wheelin' muddin' chick who likes to bring your own tote bag to the grocery store, then this is for you! Gonna speak your mind? Check out the selection of the soapbox items!!

When the hub and I first got together, he was stoked that I loved playing video games, but of course... he thinks he's better than me... Needless to say, I've whooped his heiney in Madden more than once. So naturally, I got the gamer t-shirt!! Now to me, clothes are clothes, but with this, I'm damn proud to say- YES! THIS GIRL CAN!!!

Teaching our girls that they can do anything they put their mind to is important and I'm so happy to have found Girls Can't What? Girls are strong, powerful and ABLE!! I love empowering sites like this!! A big, huge, giant round of applause to Gretchen for starting it!!

Want your own Girls Can't What? t-shirt? Head on over to the shop and come back here, letting me know which shirt you'd pick!!

What's Your Playlist?

A lot of people have never believed me that I listen to country music, because I like so many different types of music, some people think that country just doesn't fit in with the rest of my choices. I was one of the only people in my circle of friends through high school that listened to country and to be honest, I rubbed off on a lot of them!!

Martina McBride has been one of my favorites for a longggg time... Our little redneck town has the county fairgrounds and I've actually been able to see some awesome country concerts during fair week. I remember when I was probably 16 or so, about 10 years ago, seeing Martina play and getting CHILLS when she sang "Independence Day". I remember during my party days, when "This One's For The Girls" came out, how me and my girls would become crazed, jumping, weeping, whackjobs because that was OUR song.

Martina McBride has more amazing songs than I can sit here and list, or else this post would be a mile long!! I was able to get the new album "Playlist", by Martina McBride through Family Review Network and I'm reminicing, listening to songs like "Happy Girl" and "Wild Angels" and loving every minute of it!!

And it gets better! The case is 100% eco-friendly, made from recycled materials and there's no paper booklet. Its an enhanced CD with a digital booklet with liner notes, photos and more!

Though with 14 of Martina's awesome songs, I'm really surprised that they left off "Valentine" but its still an amazing CD, filled with great songs. You can even check out Wal-Mart's Soundcheck to see some more of her preformance there.

This is one CD that I'm happy to add to my collection, its not one of those that you like 2 or 3 songs and then skip through the rest. The whole "Playlist" is filled with some of the best songs around!

Thank you to Family Review Network and M80 for making this review possible!!

A Deliciously Interactive Adventure!!

What girl doesn't love pampering herself? What girl doesn't love sweet smelling soaps and fabulous bath bombs? Young and old, girls and women all love those wonderful spa experiences, even in their own home. Yes, I'm one of them and I'm training Boug to be a girlie girl too!! Between my obsession with chocolate and all things fabulously girlie, Sundae Spa was a perfect fit!!

Sundae Spa was started because of a little let down with a spa experience that was booked for a fun and sweet, hands and feet experience. I say, thank goodness for that let down or else Sundae Spa wouldn't have been here! That flubbed up day became the inspiration for Sundae Spa!

They came up with some of the most fabulous things! Like bath scoops, think of an ice cream scoop plopped into the bath tub that will fizz and release fabulous moisturizers and oils in your favorite ice cream scent! Also, the most awesome bath cakes, in flavors like Birthday Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Raspberry Delight and more... my husband saw this waiting for me and actually thought it was a cupcake... he literally came THISCLOSE to eating it!! Like to mix things up a bit? Opt in for the soap of the month club, where for 6 or 12 months you can get a different delicious soap delivered right to your door!!

I have to say though, Boug and I fell in love with the Chocolate Raspberry Fudge soap immediately. It was great!! Boug and I have such a fun time just washing our hands!! Go figure!! There is nothing like a real, hefty bar of awesome smelling soap... I've been sniffing at my hands ever since!!

How about adorable soap truffles instead of candy for Mother's day coming up? What about a great gift for the girlie in your life? They have gift packages like the Box of Pops, Mini-Sampler, Sweet Treat package, The Ultimate Sundae and so many more to pamper anyone you could think of! Don't forget about the CureChief Hope product line where 25% of sales of these items benefit the CureChief Foundation.

And for those of you in Connecticut... the retail store will be opening in SPRING 2009!! And guess what!! Allie DiMeco from Nickelodeon's Naked Brothers Band is hosting the grand opening!! They are going to be offering up Dessert Party Packages at the new store and its going to be fab!!

Want to grab yourself some Sundae Spa?? I have 2 $20 gift certificates to giveaway!! 2 winners will each win $20 to spend over at the Sundae Spa site!! Here's what you have to do... head on over to Sundae Spa and browse through their amazing products! Come back here and leave a comment with what sounds the most delicious or enticing to you! What would you buy with the gift certificate?

Extra entries? Sure... Subscribe or follow A Couch With A View. Post my button on your blog, post the Extraordinary Mothers button on your blog. Blog about this giveaway on your blog. Follow CaseyDeuce on twitter and tweet this giveaway!

Cart Stopper Review

Once again, another "why didn't I think of that" moment occurs.

My Lil Monkey's came out with this fabulous Cart-Stopper and it just makes perfect sense. I cannot tell you how many times I've had the cart start to roll away from me, no matter what store I'm at. The scariest part is that it usually happens when I'm almost done getting everything into the car except the kid is still left in the cart and it just barely begins to roll. Even that tiny roll makes my heart stop!

An industrial strength suction cup, that sticks to any flat, clean surface and then tethers back to the cart is genius. Personally, I'm not big on remembering things. I'm aweful when its time to use something complicated or bulky. This is easy! The Cart-Stopper small enough to fit in my purse where I know I'll never forget to bring it with me.

When I first pulled it out of my purse, Boug looked at me and said "What is that thing Mom?" To be honest, I told her I was going to stick it to her forehead.

Then I stopped joking and I explained that its a great little invention that helps to keep her and her brother safe and I proceeded to show her exactly how it works. Of course at this point the lady with the car next to mine came out with her cart and like always, I was in her way. But she didn't care. She was too busy wondering what I was explaining to my 4 year old, while her little brother was trying to snatch it from me and eat it. So I told her, she looked almost annoyed that it wasn't around when her kids were young. Her response was "That's so SMART!"

At $9.99 its not a big expense for the little Cart-Stopper that could... I pay more than that for coffee in a week! If you're located in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Canada or Austrailia, check for a store location near you at their website. If not, you can order from the website as well! For you fashionistas... they come in red, pink and blue! Don't forget to stop by the blog to check out the news and maybe a discount code...?? (hint-hint) It also received The Toy Man Seal of Approval, Awarded Best Product by Orca Communications, The New Parents Guide Seal of Approval and was a JPMA Innovation Award finalist!

You have to love something about a product with a family behind it, Kai and River's Mom and Pop came up with these awesome Cart-Stoppers because of a scary incident and after searching, they realized that there is nothing like it out there! I don't want to be in a run-away cart situation ever again, I'll be sure that I always have my Cart-Stopper with me!!

Would you like to have your very own Cart-Stopper? Head over to the website, check out the locations and see if there is a store near you, if not, let me know if you would order online!

Binkies? Loveys? Paci's?

No matter what you call them, we call them bink's or binkies here, every baby has a different preference. With our daughter, I never ever wanted to give her one, cause I was so deathly afraid that she would never give it up. But 2 weeks after she was born in 2004, I forked one over. She was indiscriminate though she had her favorites and now my son has his favorites too. He will not take any bink other than the MAM pacifiers! We started off with one of these in August and now we have more than a few everywhere around the house if need be.

I'm not complaining though, since MAM pacifiers are developed with pediatricians and orthodontists. Not to mention that they are adorable! I'm so upset that the very first MAM my son had is missing!! It was white with a skull and crossbones and said "rebel" on it. It was a gift and I loved it, so did he!! The only problem that I had was that I couldn't find a pacifier keeper for them, one that clipped onto a shirt, but they exist and I have them now!! No more lost MAM binks!!
Now I'm even happier because I recently got the brand new MAM Colic Free Bottle!! The Ultivent delivers less gas, less air and less colic due to the venting system and nipple shape. I always get nervous when giving Lil' Buddy a new nipple shape, how he'll do with it, and with this one its perfect for him. No problems whatsoever!! Its comes apart oh-so-easy for cleaning, thank goodness, since I don't have a dishwasher, I AM the dishwasher!!And not to mention, MAM offers BPA-Free products!! Be sure to check out their new products for your little sweetie!!

Raising Freethinkers

One subject that I very rarely touch here is religion, but I'm going to touch on it for a moment. I won't be offended if you don't read this post, I won't hold it against you... but on the flip side, I would prefer not to get flamed for any of my views on religion. Thanks!

I was given the chance to read the book, "Raising Freethinkers" by Dale McGowan, Molleen Matsumura, Amanda Metskas and Jan Devor. The book has a subtitle of "A Practical Guide for Parenting Beyond Belief." I'll admit that's what caught my eye the most. I was not raised with any extensive religious background. I cannot claim to have a vast understanding of any religious sect and I don't even know what to consider myself, religiously. Yes, we celebrate Christmas, as well as the other main religious holidays and I do know a bit about them. But I'm no scholar on the subject. More answers for me, more ways to open my eyes is an asset.

As a parent, I think its important to have your own beliefs, and to raise your children to be contributing to the community, understanding and accepting of others, ethical and caring, among other things. Think outside the box sometimes on ethics, without focusing on religion and there are some really good points in "Raising Freethinkers."

I honestly think that this book is eye opening, with lots of responses to some hard questions. Lots of activities to use as explaination, and easy to read, especially for someone like me who doesn't get many chances to sit and read a book too often. It held my attention, it was engaging. There are points and activities that don't pertain to just non-religious families. And no matter what, a family is a family.

A bit more about "Raising Freethinkers" from their site:

Praised by Newsweek as “a compelling read” and Library Journal as “accessible and down-to-earth,” Dale McGowan’s Parenting Beyond Belief offered freethinking parents everywhere a compassionate introduction to raising caring, ethical children without religious guidance. Now, for the more than 40 million people in the United States who identify themselves as nonreligious, Raising Freethinkers offers solutions to the unique challenges secular parents face and provides specific answers to common questions, as well as over 100 activities for both parents and their children. This book covers every important topic nonreligious parents need to know to help their children with their own moral and intellectual development, including advice on religious-extended-family issues, death and life, secular celebrations, wondering and questioning, and more.

Transforming Family

Lets all be honest with ourselves for one minute, not every family is perfect. We all have areas that we need to work through. We all have imperfections and we all have obstacles.

I was so lucky to get to talk to Tracy from Transforming Family. Tracy Liebmann is a certified life coach, and she loves to emphasize on family life coaching. Though she loves family life coaching, she's certified to coach for any subject. Tracy is a stay at home mom, as well as a homeschooler, who was once a teacher, yet felt that she just wasn't getting through to some of the parents that she was trying to reach. She wanted to make a difference and left the field. She went on to become a certified life coach and is helping so many people with many different scenerios that families today need to work through.

Tracy helps to focus on creating an open, communicative, listening and sharing situation where each person feels free to talk about the situation. To bring together each persons thoughts and feelings to work together through it. In a family dynamic, for example, how to get to the point where you can relax and really enjoy your children. Sometimes its something like realizing how much you don't like when your spouse puts their lunchbox when they come home from work, visualizing what it is that tweeks you the wrong way and getting to a point where you can move beyond the little things. Its about understanding WHO you are and achieving good mental health.

Though Tracy is trained to be an active listener, will help you with action plans, and will ask you the empowering questions to get to the root of the important things to you, as well as your family, she is not a therapist nor a consultant. She is an amazing life coach that can most definitely help you think outside the box, and bring together positive energy to make change.

I'm a pretty laid back person, but like for many people, I have a hard time talking to someone for the first time. Especially about MYSELF. Talking to Tracy was like talking to an old friend. Someone who's real. Someone who genuinely cares. Someone who is easy to talk to and who talks to you on the same level. There is no talking down, she's so warm and inviting to talk to! I looked at the phone and before I knew it, 45 minutes had flew right by!

Would you care to make a short term expense for a long term result and investment in yourself? Tracy has some of the most competitive and realistic rates that I've seen, for 4 sessions its $300 per month. With this you gain total access and can be involved in all of Tracy's offerings with Transforming Family. For 2 sessions, it is only $175 per month and you will have complete email access to Tracy. Also you can set up an hourly session for only $90. But dont overlook the free trial session that you can do! You can set up a free half hour session with Tracy to see what a coaching experience can do for you. Sign up is so easy at the website!!

Would you like to gain 2 sessions with Tracy to begin your journey? You can be entered to win the $175 value, 2 sessions by filling out the entry form below. I know this is a personal giveaway therefore I have used a form instead of comments as an entry.

This giveaway will remain open until March 7th, 10:25 pm. Winner will be chosen at random and have 3 days to reply to the winning email.

Drink WAT-AAH!!!

Do you or your kids drink enough water in any given day? I know my daughter doesn't and I know that I definitely don't, but did I think that my Boug would pass the WAT-AAH challenge? I wasn't quite sure. Now Boug isn't the biggest soda drinker, but she'll guzzle any sort of juice you put in front of her. Especially the sugary garbage (which I try to keep out of my house).

What do you think that your child would pick if they had WAT-AAH, soda, juice etc... lined up in the fridge to choose from?

I thought that Boug would be grabbing for the juice, easily.

But when I asked her what she wanted to drink, she quickly said "That one Mom!!"

With an eye catching bottle, why would kids not want to drink WAT-AAH? And water is one of the most important things for all of us!!

Check out the WAT-AAH website (or the challenge blog), which is sooo fun, sooo easy to navigate and if you'd like to participate in the WAT-AAH Challenge, please let me know! Email num1twinkie at yahoo.com!

I Can See Clearly Now....

A little known fact about ol' CaseyDeuce? My eyes SUCK! I don't wear glasses as often as I should, I really need to get back to the optometrist and I'm awesome at breaking and losing glasses.

I'm so so so happy that I found EyeBuyDirect! Nice glasses at a great price, you really cant beat that when you kill glasses like I do. Prices start at just $7.95 including the lenses! Styles aren't crappy and there's some really stylish frames available! And they don't just offer eyeglasses, they do prescription sunglasses too! And do you just wanna be stylin' with some cool frames? EyeBuyDirect also does fashion glasses with non prescription clear lenses!

Now because one of the reasons that my glasses are always missing, if they aren't broken, is that somehow my mother somehow ends up with my glasses. And I'm not complaining, since in all honesty, she gave me the gift of life... so I bought a pair that I knew that she would approve of so that if she wound up snagging them from me, she wouldn't look stupid. I wound up picking the Heart style frames in brown. These are $49.95 at EyeBuyDirect when they would be $250 in the stores!! I placed my order and waited, I seriously thought that I'd be waiting longer, but the glasses came so quick! Right along with a lens cloth and a case!! I got them with the anti-scratch and the anti-reflective to get them just the way that I like them.

Next time around though, I'm getting frames that are totally me and that my mom definitely wont grab from me- I'm loving the Suzie, Donna, and especially the Philly!

Want a new pair of glasses from EyeBuyDirect? Head on over to EyeBuyDirect and browse through the frames, leave me a comment with what your favorite frames are!!

Extra entries? Upload your photo to EyeBuyDirect and try on some frames! Follow CaseyDeuce on Twitter and tweet this giveaway with the link. Add my button to your site, follow or subscribe to A Couch With A View. Blog about this giveaway.

Make sure your blogger profile is not set to private, make sure your email address is accessible and if you don't have a blogger account, please feel free to leave your email in the comment, (like this- num1twinkie at yahoo dot com, or similar). Are you wise?

Get wise to Planet Wise wetbags!! I'm sure that you have a need for a wetbag somewhere in your life and maybe you don't have one, maybe you do... maybe you reuse plastic grocery bags (YUCK) and maybe you just use a tote that leaks or something. Why bother with using something that leaks or something that isn't good for the environment?

Planet Wise wetbags are an environmentally responsible, socially concious, family owned company. Is too important to reduce our environmental impact and Planet Wise is doing just that. All products are throughly researched, pvc and lead free. And much to everyone's surprise, a lot of zippers are painted with paint that contains lead!!

Planet Wise has the greatest patterns for their bags and I especially love the taxi and the river rock. They come in 3 convenient sizes, small, medium and large. Depending on your needs you can get the size that best suits you. Since I'm not a cloth diapering mama, and the small says 1-2 cloth diapers, I like to use mine for the babys bottles when we're out and about. Somehow I always happen to grab the leaky ones and I hate that I never realize until its way too late! But the big one- Its HUGE!! It holds about 17 cloth diapers!!

Sporting Baby Review & Giveaway!!

Are you a fit mama (or papa)? Was your new years resolution to start getting into shape? Do ya have an active, athletic kiddo?? Want to express yours and your childs athletic personality for all to see? Sporting Baby has some of the cutest baby "sport wear" around! This is the greatest active wear for little ones around, absolutely adorable! We got the the greatest "perseverance turtle" onesie for Lil' Buddy and its just so fitting for his 6 month old personality. He's going to be the chunky, slow and steady wins the race!! Sporting Baby shows with this one that they know how important that dedication is!

Sporting Baby has some great onesies, t-shirts and sweatshirts geared at the active parent. And the cotton on the onesies aren't cheap! This is one of the softest, thick cotton onesies that I've even received for Lil' Buddy!

Sporting Baby beginning to expand!! They are looking to include more yoga, cycling, triathalon and soccer themed clothing! Personally I can't wait to see what the yoga items are going to be! I've most recently started actually trying to do yoga, though I have absolutely NO sense of balance!

"Fit from the start" is Sporting Baby's tagline and I can't agree more. Its so important to get the kids started on the right track, (no pun intended) and be active, be healthy and carry that trait with you all throughout life.

And know an active mom or pop having a baby? How perfect would one of these onesies be for a baby shower present!!

Want to win a Sporting Baby onesie of your choice? Head over to Sporting Baby and let me know which of their onesie styles you like the best!!

Ever Had A CakeCup??

To be honest with you, at first glance I thought it was a typo. Then I read on and I saw that it really is a Cake in a Cup and its called a Cakecup. Cupcakes In Jars has this down to a science!! We received the Yum Blonde Cakecup and I told my husband to come try it with me. I mean, sharing is caring, right? I took a bite and immedietely changed my mind. IMMEDIETELY. I have never tasted a vanilla cupcake... er... cakecup like it before! Boy oh boy was this moist! And rich! And fabulous! And real buttercream icing........ I've gone to heaven.....

But being the wonderful wife that I am, I allowed him to continue sharing with me... I'm just that nice. He said, "You didn't make this, did you?" Knowing damn well that I cannot bake to save my life. I replied, "No, its from Cupcakes In Jars, what do you think?" He simply said, "We HAVE TO get more of these! Can I finish this one off?"

Cupcakes In Jars makes their cakecups to be 9 ounces in size and say that its perfect for 1-2 servings, but really, who wants to share? I have only tried the Yum Blonde Cakecup, and I definitely recommend it, but for more of a selection head over to Cupcakes In Jars and check out some of the other flavors available... Sweet Chai O' Mine... Smmmmmmores... Red Velvet... Cookies N Milk... and more... are you drooling yet?? And if you cant narrow it down? Check out the Cakecup Sampler Package of 4!! There are way too many choices.

And don't forget the other goodies available!! Vanilla cinnamon sugar marshmallows are absolutely divine!! The chocolate bliss brownie bites look heavenly!! Peanut butter & marshmallow truffles are right up my alley!! Also, to keep yourself posted on all the Cupcakes In Jars happenings, check out the Cupcakes In Jars blog!

Don't settle for pretty-ed up boxed mixes, go for the best, organic eggs, unbleached flour, real butter, Madagascar vanilla and vanilla beans, both Ghirardelli and Scharffen-Berger cocoas and organic milk!!

Like I've said before, he just needs his mohawk and I messed it all up while putting his shirt on...

There are too many things at Baby Rock Apparel that I'd love to have, for both Lil' Buddy and Boug, and a few things I'm wishing for in my size!! Especially the drama queen argyle tee!!

I adore the Honor Thy Mother hoodie, and just how damn smart is the Tinkle Tube??? Yeah, it may have a silly name, but you bet you'll remember it, and its gained praise from numerous publications!

Baby Rock Apparel was founded in 2004 to hook wee ones up with trendy clothes... they did a fab job let me tell ya!! Rockin' tunes for tots, adorable hats, super kickin' footwear, accessories, fun baby gifts and more!!

And even if you're not a winner, its still for a great cause, each entry Baby Rock Apparel receives, they will donate $1 to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Go on and enter!!
