Protecting your investments with 3M

I'm not one who likes to throw money out the window, though I'm not sure I know anyone who likes that. I see more and more people who buy things that I consider expensive and don't do anything to take care of them, as if those items are disposable. I couldn't imagine living and not caring about damaging something I paid a few hundred bucks on.

I see it all the time with cell phones, especially when I'm at work bartending. So many of my customers pop their cells right on the bar and I see them all laying around. Brand new, top o' the line, touch screens... with cracked screens or tons of scratches. Really? Why not protect something you paid for? Especially when protecting it can be so darn easy?? 3M makes Natural View Screen Protectors for so many different types of phones, such as apple phones, samsung phones, htc, motorola and more.

The screen protectors from 3M, I really found to be true to their advertised word. They really are crystal clear. Not only that, they claim to be scratch and smudge resistant, which I can vouch for is true as well! I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't make a small investment to take care of their valuables? One of the things I hate most about screen protectors on my phone is the grit that gets stuck right around the edges, but I haven't had that happen with the 3M Natural View Protectors! They're priced right too, anywhere from $7.99 to $14.99 on jr.com, and $24.99 for an iPad screen protector. They can also be ordered from the Shop 3M site, or you can order from amazon.com.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of 3M and received a Natural View Screen Protector to facilitate my review and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

A New Me

Thanks for the post from Rashad Townsend

It's Tuesday and my favorite show will be on soon. Dinner is done and the dishes are in the dishwasher, so it's grab a cup of tea, turn on my satellite tv that I got when I came across this SATALITE TV HD DVR Prices Comparison, and get ready to watch "What Not To Wear". Clinton Kelly and Stacy London make the show so much fun to watch and the transformations on people is amazing to me. You learn to recognize what looks good on certain body types and how to cover up all your flaws. As mean as they seem sometimes, they sure can make a difference in how you can look and carry yourself. I guess you could say it is an educational show. I can't help but wonder, how embarrassed the people must be when they are confronted in their own home town, in front of people they know so well. I'm not sure I could go through that part of the show, but with the credit card to purchase a new wardrobe, I may just give it a try. For a woman, this show is very entertaining. You can learn alot about how to dress, different hairstyles and makeup and just a feeling of confidence, that you are the very best you can be.

Personalized & Promotional Products for the Spring

Spring is HERE!! Thank goodness, cause I'm totally over the cold, dreary winter. I've been talking a lot to friends lately and there's a lot of stuff on the table for the warmer weather. I know that there are baby showers and bridal showers that are currently being planned out. On top of that, a dear friend of mine is looking to get a monthly "garden tea party" going for all us ladies, to get to hang out in a grownup setting and get some girl time in, sans-kids.

There's so much prep to do for all these events, like mailing out invitations and so much more, but one way to take a step out of all the work is to have the invitation envelopes pre-printed with your return address information. Custom printed envelopes save a bit of the legwork when stuffing your supercute invites in the mail! My bestie who is planning out all this stuff, loves to have trinkets and goodies for guests to take with them, and one thing she's done in the past that's been a big hit is custom engraved pens. They're a great goodie cause they aren't something that sits and collects dust! Everyone uses a pen, whether it be at work, in your checkbook or just at your desk, it gets used.

While planning out your parties or promotional items for the spring and summer months, you can click through here to check out Amsterdam promotional pens and other items!

A new flawless beauty regimen for me!!

I've probably had the same "beauty" regimen for 6 or so years now. Its a barely-there effort, but its been working for me for so long, I've never attempted to switch it up. I throw on some tinted moisturizer, a little loose powder, the eyeshadow that has since been discontinued and some mascara. Its literally less than 3 minutes from start to finish, and some days it totally looks like I didn't even put any effort into trying to look decent. I've wanted to try some new ways of looking good, taking more pride in my appearance, but I hadn't for a while, until I was able to try out the Luminess Airbrush Cosmetics kit.First off, I have to say, I'm loving how easy it is to get started using the Luminess. With the getting started guide, as well as DVD, you're not going into using it blindly. I like that I'm not using a dirty old makeup sponge, or even my hands, to apply the makeup, like I have been. You know a lot of flaws can come from grime in a makeup sponge, Luminess takes that out of the equation!

Luminesse didn't take much longer for me to use then what I had been doing, which I love, because I'm always in a rush and taking more time on me isn't something I usually do. In just a little bit of time, I was able to spray on foundation, eye shadow (I used the shimmer highlighter), and bronzer. I had a flawless look that I wasn't sure that I would ever achieve! It did take a minute to get used to the motion and how hard to push the button, but I quickly adapted, and was so pleased with my results!

You can pick up a Luminess Air Beauty system from ulta.com, which includes the airbrush system and stylus, the getting started DVD and guide, the metallic silver clutch for storage, and the starter kit that contains $225 worth of free makeup. It contains 4 foundations, 1 bronzer, 1 blush and 1 shimmer highlighter). You can get the makeup to match your skin tone, in ultra-fair, fair, medium, tan, dark or ultra-dark. Luminess products are also available on amazon.com for purchasing.

I received the Luminess Air Beauty system at no cost to aid in my review, this in no way changes how I feel about the product!!

I'm keeping my New Years Resolution with help from Walgreens!

This is a compensated post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

120x30_WalgrensTransparentLogo

Of course, like so many others, my New Years resolution was to get into better shape and lose weight. Naturally, I like to find ways to give myself a boost and when I was asked to try out Walgreens Brand Green Tea Dietary Supplement I jumped at the opportunity! Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products compare to national brands by using most of the same active ingredients, so you can feel good about using a store brand versus just paying for a "name" from other companies. Walgreens has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, just in case you aren't satisfied with your purchase. Their Health & Wellness products are also pharmacist recommended, you can feel better about using something that has your local pharmacist standing behind it. Advertisement

The Walgreens Brand Green Tea Dietary Supplement that I was able to try, I'm happy to say I'm pleased with my results! Just as advertised on the package, it helps curb appetite, burn calories and boost energy. I paired taking these supplements, with my usual diet and exercise and I feel like my routine was kicked up a notch. I feel as if I was able to have an extra bit of help with my quest to get fit! Something else that I love about Walgreens products is that they don't cost as much as other brands, and saving money is a HUGE deal to me, I win-win with these cause I'm not emptying my wallet to purchase Walgreens Green Tea supplements!

Keep in mind, all Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products benefit Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ to bring preventative services to local communities.

Spring is coming! Celebrate it with Pier 1!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is so quickly arriving, March 20th to be exact, which means its time to start bringing out the outdoor furniture again. Starting to bbq again, and just simply enjoy being outside in the wonderful weather. Instead of bringing out the furniture that you've had for a few years, its time to treat yourself to some new digs, and I personally lust after the outdoor furniture and goodies at Pier 1!

I'm saving my pennies to replace the old,  broke down outdoor table and chairs that I have out on my big front porch on my little apartment. I'm loving how a lot of Pier 1's furniture is versatile for both outdoors and indoors. So much of their stuff is so great, that you can move items in and out at your will. They have wall decor, rugs and much more that can go either way! Of course, Pier 1 has their fabulous papasan still, with more options too! You can pick up the outdoor papasan, the outdoor double papasan and the outdoor swingasan to name a few!

There are special in-store offers March 18th through the 20th, and you can sign up for those by getting on the list for the  Pier 1 Outdoor newsletter. Also, for those of you active on twitter or the blogosphere, a great way to meet others in your area, are the Pier 1 Tweetups that are happening in Dallas, Atlanta and New York City! You can head to the one in Dallas on March 22nd, Atlanta on April 5th or New York City on April 20th.

The True Meaning of Friendship... Your Thoughts

I've been thinking so much over the past few days, at the prompting of some evil words that were said to me, about true, real friendship. What is the meaning of it, what does it mean to you? What are qualities that people must have in order to gain your friendship?

I put a similar question up on my personal facebook, and some people who I consider close to me, answered... I'll share those with you.

I need ya'll to tell me what the true meaning of friendship is to you. Do you always expect something in return once you've done something nice for a friend? Do you have to share the same viewpoints on everything as your friends? Please... elaborate... let me know what you think.
Sharing viewpoints isn't any fun. True friends give you the chance to share your views without holding it against you (for too long).

I never expect anything in return when I have done something for a friend!! If I DO something for someone, it's because I WANT to, not because I want "backsies." And lord ,no, my friends and I don't always share the same viewpoints. Life would be so dull if we all thought and acted the same!

A true friend is there for you through thick and thin. They support you in every way possible. They are a shoulder to cry on, someone who is willing to give and expect nothing in return, and will be your backbone when you need them to be.

A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are. Anyone that imposes and sells their viewpoints as the "right" way, or does nice things because they expect something in return, i...s any combination of ignorant, arrogant, and/or selfish....in my humble opinion

friends invite friends to go puddle jumping, wanna come?

I'd really love to get some input from you all about what you think true friendship is. Talk to me in the comments, I'm really looking forward to your thoughts!!

Life Better Served with Hormel Compleats!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zooppa for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Moms of now are so different from the moms that existed in the 1960's and before. Back in the day, so many mothers stayed home and didn't work, now a days, there really isn't much of a choice sometimes and moms spend their days working, then coming home and doing the regular mom routine.  Personally, as a single mother now, I've found it really hard to find the balance, but am loving finding shortcuts to make my life easier. Busy moms wear many hats, from boss to housekeeper, from laundry attendant to chef. With Hormel Compleats, that chef's hat can be much easier to wear!

Hormel Compleats don't need to be frozen or refrigerated, so grabbing something great to eat in the middle of a busy day is convenient! After the kids lunches are packed up and they're sent off to school or daycare, its easy enough to toss a total roast beef meal in your tote for your own lunch!

Right now, you can enter the Hormel Compleats Life Better Served contest video contest, showing how a multi-tasking modern lady would want to make lunchtime easier by using Hormel Compleats. As a perk, when you share the Life Better Served contest with 5 friends, you're entered to win $3,000!! Its as easy as submitting a video, having Hormel choose it as one of the best, having the Zooppa community vote your video as one of the best, or sharing it with at least 5 people and you're entered to win!! Will you be entering?

Bambi Diamond Edition Release!

I'm sure I say it about lots of Disney movies, but so many have become my favorites over the years, including Bambi, which was just released on Blu-Ray and DVD for its Diamond Edition!

It seems that though there aren't may words spoken in Bambi, the ones that are, are so very memorable. Like when Bambi, aka "The Prince of the Forest" stands there and says "bird bird bird bird!" Or attempts to say "butterfly." Can't forget when Bambi's bunny friend Thumper says "I'm thumpin'! That's why they call me Thumper!" But my favorite part is when the skunk gets its name, Flower, because Bambi calls him flower and he replies, "Oh that's alright. He can call me flower if he wants to, I don't mind." Bambi and his friends will be favorites of mine, and now my kids, for a very very long time.

If you're not familiar, the movie follows Bambi, as he makes friends in the forest, and learns the skills needed to survive. In the forest, as Bambi gets older, he even finds love. In the movie though, the hunters come and Bambi must be brave like his father to lead the other deer to safety.

On the new Diamond Edition DVD, you'll find lots of bonus material like Backstage Disney, Family Play: Games & Activities, a digital exclusive; The Golden Age, and classic DVD bonus features including Tricks of the Trade, The Making of Bambi and more! You can save $10 on your purchase of Bambi Diamond Edition by printing out the coupon available HERE. You can also easily order your copy through amazon.com.

So hard to help yourself...

I don't think I've ever been in a more difficult spot in any point in my life. There has been so much that has happened over the past few months, that I'm not even sure how I've made it this far along.

A quick recap...
The ex and I split. He moved one way, I moved another. We remained civil, we had the kids 50/50 and it worked out well for a bit. Until his alcoholism kicked back into full swing. I had to keep the kids from seeing him, as it was an unsafe environment, and they know that he is not healthy enough to take care of himself, therefore unable to take care of them. Some crazy stuff went down after that, (read here and here) and now he's about 3 hours away in rehab. I've gone from having my kids half time to having them full time, which changes a lot of things financially.

Fast forward to the current. I've been doing all I can to make things right. I've applied for Family Health Plus insurance through the state for the kids and myself, which was nothing but a hassle. I had to get forms from the old insurance company, petition for child support and a bunch of other crap just to get them to process my application. I was starting to wonder if they had any more hoops that they wanted me to jump through. I also applied for food stamps, because if I could kill my grocery bill for the most part, that would take a HUGE expense out of my month and then maybe it wouldn't be so hard to keep up on other bills. So I applied for that in December, they denied me because the date that they gave me to phone interview by included a holiday and the offices were closed. I called immediately the next day, was told someone would call me back. They never did and then they denied my case because I failed to keep the interview. Righttt... I reapplied towards the end of January, once I found out I was denied, and by law they have to tell you within 30 days of their decision, or schedule your interview within that time. As of today, I still hadn't heard anything. So of course, I called. I spent about 10 minutes on the phone with them today crying. The woman on the phone told me that NONE of the applications during whatever time frame got processed because the person in charge of them isn't anymore. So I do my part, correctly, and still get screwed?? Nice. I love the state. Now I'm missing pay stubs that they need for my file, and have to jump through some more hoops in order to again, get my interview scheduled and hopefully get some assistance.

I'm not quite sure why its gotta be so difficult? Is this their way of weeding people out who might not actually need the help as much as others? Because the people who really need it WILL jump through the hoops?

I'm just sitting here shaking my damn head, confused, befuddled...

Fun with promotional products

Sometimes when you're the one in charge of your own promotion and marketing, its fun to do something different to draw attention to yourself. Even working for someone and helping make promotional decisions can lead to great items for your potential customers, returning customers or clients. Sometimes promotional items are even great as gifts for your employees or to treat yourself to something "you" branded! For example, with the way that so many people drink coffee, custom mugs could be a great promotional tool and employee appreciation gift for people working for you!

The past couple years at BlogHer, I didn't bring too much extra to put myself out there. I stuck with my regular business cards, but there's so much out there that would have been fun to put out there with my peers. I would have loved to even had something so useful, like pens, made up to give out along with my business cards. How perfect would a "me" branded bandage dispenser be? With tons of women walking around in heels to look great, yet knowing that they are killing their feet!!

Amsterdam Printing has tons of promotional items available for ordering, and the deals that you can get are pretty good! Now for March, they have their sitewide sale going on, where you can save 20% off of your entire order with code AG186.
