Space Bags Review

A few years ago when I worked in the restaurant, a friend of mine that worked there was going back to college. I asked him how the hell he was going to get most of his crap back to school in his little Honda. He let me know about Space Bags and it immediately caught my attention.

As renters, I always have this fear that my landlords are going to frown upon my clutter. And believe me, we have A LOT of clutter. Lucky for us, we have a great apartment with a garage and we're able to store a lot of stuff out there. I actually "space bagged" a bunch of Boug's old clothes and they are stacked neatly in the garage. No buggies or mice or anything able to get to them. No worry about dampness or mildew!

Right now at the Space Bag website, you can order a full set for only $19.95+ shipping and handling. This set includes:
-2 Jumbo Cube Bag
-2 Large Bags
-2 Medium Bags
-1 Hanging Bag

You can check on the site where you can purchase them in your state, take the survey, or chat with a live pre-sale specialist!

There are also great tips and solutions for keeping your house uncluttered, organized and there's an available organizing expert!

Seriously, the video on the site is much much too familiar to me. The overflowing closet, ugh... thats my house.

And for all of you that travel, be it by plane, train, bus or car, space is limited in your luggage and now with airlines charging SO MUCH extra for baggage. They have the Space Bags in a travel version!

1 Year Anniversary

One year ago today I was pregnant. I was waitressing. I was attempting to juggle housework and finances and one child and a fiance. Then the afternoon rolled around and I gained a husband.

We woke up like any normal day that the hub and I had off. Had breakfast, sat around. Like always, attempted to catch up on housework but that never works out as planned.

We decided to go into town and fill out our marriage license a few days prior, just to have it. I mean, I was pregnant, not covered by ANY insurance, he had insurance and I could be added to it. Sounds like a silly reason to get married but it was our reason at the time. At that point we had been together 4 years and had a 3 year old daughter. Whats the difference whether we're technically married or not? We knew neither one of us were going anywhere. We love each other. But yes, I did need insurance since I was expecting.

My mother works out at a tractor store in another one of those little po-dunk towns around here and it just so happens that one of the guys that work in the office with her is a judge as well. I called her up at work about noon and asked if we could pop over and have him just sign the license so that I can get put onto the insurance policy.

The woman thought I was joking.

We showed up about an hour later to the tractor store. Said our hellos to my mom and her co-workers and wandered into the judges office. He looked at me and at the hub and said, "Well I have to say SOMETHING... You do? You do? You are." Mom signed as a witness, another friend of hers in the office signed as a witness and it was done. The whole time this was going on there was just laughter. No one could actually believe that we were technically getting married at a tractor store.

My moms friend handed the hub a newspaper and said, "Well here, I didn't get you a gift, so here it is."

Mom wandered around the shop grabbing up promo items like keychains, pens and chip clips as "wedding favors."

And as quick as it happened, we got on our way, we made a pit stop at the deli on the way home and got some sandwiches. We say that was our reception. The next day I picked up a little chocolate cake and we said that was our wedding cake.

Its still a joke that whenever I wear the sweatshirt that I had on that day, that I'm wearing my wedding dress. And go figure, it was a sweatshirt with the tractor store's logo on it.

About 2 weeks later I went for my initial OBGYN appointment and yep, it was covered by insurance.

Now one year later, we have added a child, changed jobs, stopped working, became 1 year sober (again) and have passed birthdays, holidays and switched insurance. Its hard to imagine that the hub and I were ever NOT married.

I'm happy married. The peice of paper doesn't make much of a difference to me in terms of how I treat my family or what I think of my husband. It doesn't make me any different of a person. But it does make me happy to share the same last name as the rest of my family.

Now with tax time approaching we'll have some extra money and we'll be planning an anniversary party, or like a delayed reception for our "wedding." Soon I'll be looking into casual venues, real favors, food, clothes and I'm sure much more. We'll see just how sane I stay with all of that!!

Aloha Friday #1

In the wonderful tradition of certain day-of-the-week posts.... I'm going to participate in Kailani's Aloha Friday over at An Island Life.

Her definition of Aloha Friday is....

"
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."

Here is my Aloha Friday question for you...

Do you have any vices that you are trying to overcome this year?

Personally, all I'd like to do is be able to cut way back on the junk that I eat. I know that I am not ready to quit smoking and we dont drink so that's not in there. Its gotta be the junk food.

Let me know in the comments, and jump on the Aloha Friday bandwagon!!

Back to Normalcy

Here we are, January 2nd. Christmas is over, New Years is over, the tree is down and I'm so ready to regain some normalcy in my household. Mind you, normalcy in my household is far from normal in most of Americas homes.

I'm ready to start the year fresh, actually do what on January 1st I resolve to do. This year my resolutions include--

-Quit freakin' out on the kids so much, use more patience.
-Begin eating right. The kids eat right, the hub eats right... I make sure they do, why cant I get myself to eat right?
-Work on being more organized.
-Lose about 40 pounds this year. Break that down to about 3 or 4 pounds a month, its COMPLETELY doable and I have NO EXCUSES.
-Save more money!! I've recently begun taking saving money any way that I can more seriously. I really want to buckle down this year and put at least $500 extra bucks into the savings account.

Now for the eating right, I was browsing on Amazon.com because they have some amazing steals on a lot of grocery items and I came across a few I'd love to share with you. The best part of all, it gets shipped right to your house!! I love not having to go out and wander the grocery store sometimes!!
