Perricone Active Tinted Moisturizer & Perricone Coupons!

I'm so happy that over the past few months, my skin has become in better and better condition. Less breakouts, less combo skin, less splotchyness, and I feel like I owe a big part of it to the Perricone product regimen that I've been using. Now with spring here, I don't like to put a whole lot of makeup on, and I know that even a little bit is going a longer way now, because I have much less imperfection to cover up. I'm loving the Perricone Active Tinted Moisturizer, because it gives my skin the protection it needs and the cover that I like!
The Perricone Active Tinted Moisturizer does so much for your skin. It provides antioxidant protection, has a non-chemical spf barrier it provides, helps firm skin and helps minimize fine lines and wrinkles. The Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Esther and DMAE help for luminosity, tightening, contouring and smoothing. I love taking a step out of my routine by using a tinted moisturizer that does so much more too!!

Also, another great thing is that you can access Perricone coupons on their site. Right now there are FOUR different coupon codes that you can use to save money on your Perricone purchase or get free products along with your purchase.

Want to win Perricone Active Tinted Moisturizer? Tell me in the comments why you need this great product!!

Mothers Day Charm Bracelets from LilyMe

There really is so much out there for the ladies, so many nice things that our children and husbands can pick up for us for Mothers Day. Right now, I'm completely smitten with the LilyMe bracelet that I was able to review, just in time to treat myself to a Mothers Day gift.

LilyMe has personalized charms, design charms, chains, necklaces and gifts. I chose a black cord bracelet with a gold plated charm, I chose to have my charm be engraved with "patience" because I know that's one thing as a mother that I'm seriously lacking. The bracelet is so classic and chic at the same time. Tasteful and it definitely holds a special meaning, as all things personalized do. LilyMe offers 9 characters of personalization per charm, and you can even add more than one charm per bracelet! I love the simplicity of these bracelets, yet you can snazz up anything with them!
About LilyMe: (as taken from their site)

The beauty and brains behind LilyMe is Parisian-born Gaelle. Having settled in New England, she travels constantly between Europe and the United States filling her suitcases with Europe’s trendiest secrets to share with her American friends. In 2008 she decided that she must import one of Europe’s trendiest jewels: an easy-to-wear, personalized charm bracelet hanging on a colorful satin cord. LilyMe was an immediate success, and Gaelle developed her collection with a wide choice of the loveliest custom-made charms.
You can save 10% off of any product at LilyMe when you use the promo code "mother."

Testing out the MiniTest from AppleCheeks!

When I was pregnant with Boug, I thought about cloth diapering, but I was young and naive, and thought that I'd take the easy road and just do disposables. Then when I became pregnant with Lil' Buddy, I gave cloth diapering another thought. "I could do this," I thought. Did I ever get around to it? No. Did I ever take the initiative to do something a little bit out of my box? Nope. I call myself irresponsible for it, but I'm starting to make that change, slowly, thanks to the AppleCheeks MiniTest review I was able to do through Family Review Network.

I'm so happy with the MiniTest set that AppleCheeks sent. When I had first looked into cloth diapering, everything seemed complicated- liners and hemp and cotton and how to wash and what type of fasteners and so much more. I didn't know what choices I should have been making. The MiniTest set comes with one cover and 3 inserts, in either hemp or viscose from bamboo.

Here's what I love, first of all, I feel a bit more environmentally responsible when using these, which make me want to use them even more. Second of all, they are sooooo easy!! I am so disappointed in myself for not taking this little leap into cloth diapering earlier. I love how they just snap closed, no looking for pins or anything like that. Third, they didn't start stinkin' like I've noticed with disposables. Maybe its because I'm more apt to wash these quicker?

And thankfully, for those beginning moments where I had questions and concerns- I was able to reference the "How-To" videos on the AppleCheeks site! Super helpful!!

Though I don't have much experience with any other cloth diaper companies, I am thrilled with AppleCheeks and would definitely recommend their products to anyone, either just starting out or someone who has cloth diapered before!

The Lunar Antics Presents: REVIEW!

Finding something witty to read and relax with isn't always an easy task, and finding something that I can share with the whole family is usually even harder. When Family Review Network offered up the opportunity to review Lunar Antics, Boy I'd Hate to be Made Out of that Stuff, I accepted. The Lunar Antics is a very thought-provoking group of characters in their comic strips, and this book is compiled all of comic strips. So, not a page turner, edge of your seat novel, but something a bit more witty that you can always peek at in small doses.
The Lunar Antics comic strips feature Zeno, Zed, Linda, Drusus and The Professor. Though Zeno, Zed, Linda and Drusus are all from the moon, The Professor is their earthling friend. The wit that comes out between the characters is quite entertaining! There are quips about credit card debt, and much more. There are some comics in the book that even Boug at 5 years old can understand!

You can pick up a copy of The Lunar Antics on Amazon.com.

Big thanks to Family Review Network who made this review opportunity available. I received my own copy of The Lunar Antics to aid in my review, which in no way changed how I feel about the book. My opinions are my opinions, take 'em or leave 'em.

Blissful Mother's Day gifts from Bliss Living!!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bliss Living. All opinions are 100% mine.

I personally don't wear much jewelry, but when I find a piece or two that I adore, I fall in love with it. Browsing around at Bliss Living has peaked my interest in quite a few pieces, and I plan on hinting about them to whomever will be helping me celebrate my journey through motherhood.

Two of Bliss Living's most popular pieces are the Mom's Name Charm Necklace and the Double Charm Name Necklace in silver. I can totally see why, they each have their own flair, their own look that lets your personality and love of your kids shine through while you're wearing it. The Mom's Name Charm Necklace is on the coolest chain and adorned with a gorgeous Swarovski crystal.

Bliss Living Jewelry has some stunning pieces but my absolute favorite is the Puffy Gold Heart Charm Necklace. I love how the name is written on the charm with its handwritten look. A very close second favorite has got to be the Fleur di Lis Tag Necklace.

Now, my own mother is a jewelry freak and I've even been able to find some pieces that I know would be perfect for her this Mother's Day. Bliss Living doesn't limit their Mothers jewelry pieces to the standard pendants, there are stunning bracelets, watches, rings and much more.

Remember when ordering from Bliss Living that they are offering FREE SHIPPING on orders over $99!!

Rescue the Rainforest

In just a couple of days, it'll be Earth Day. On Thursday, April 22nd, 2010, we'll celebrate protecting our Earth and all that inhabit it. I know sometimes it can be hard to find the time or the extra money to donate to Earth-protecting charities and non-profits. There's always a bill to be paid or a new expense in the household. With Tropicana Juicy Rewards, I feel better about doing my part for the Earth. For a 3 point donation, you can help rescue the rainforest with Tropicana.

The 3 points that you put toward rescuing the rainforest will save 100 square feet of rainforest. So far, 10,487,389 square feet of the rainforest has been saved by Tropicana Juicy Rewards points donations in 2010 alone. This number even increased while I was writing this post! Of course, you don't have to only donate 3 points to the cause, you can donate any number of points towards Tropicana and Cool Earth so that they can help save the planets rainforests.

So with Earth Day on Thursday, what will you do? How will you help? Will you be able to do something even as small as donating your Juicy Rewards points to help the rainforests?

I wrote this review while participating in the Tropicana Juicy Insiders Ambassador program by Mom Central on behalf of Tropicana. I received 12 free Juicy Rewards points and a $50 Visa gift card to use in redemption of the points and to facilitate my review.

10 Little Things that Lead to a Happier, Healthier You

There are so many ways that I'd like to improve myself, and so many times the big ones seem out of reach. You know, the "lose 50 pounds" goal, the "become independently wealthy" goal. But in my day to day, I try to strive to do a minimum of 5 things that lead me to a happier, healthier me, though the list of possibilities is much longer. I shoot for 5, that way I don't overwhelm myself with all the "shoulda coulda woulda" that I should have done differently for the given day.

Here's my list of 10 little things that I do to make a happier, healthier me:::
(and when I say healthier, I don't just mean physically, I mean mentally too)

1. Smile. Smiling makes you feel good and makes the others around you feel good.
2. Don't sweat the small stuff. There's too much big crap to worry about, don't stress over the fact that you broke a nail or can't find your favorite color lipstick.
3. Listen to your childrens laughter. Its contagious.
4. Park further away from the store. Take the extra couple of steps to burn an extra couple of calories.
5. Have at least one indulgence a day. Whether that be eating some m & m's, treating yourself to a glass of wine, kicking up your feet and relaxing with your favorite tv show.
6. Love. Love with all you have in you, whether it be focused toward your pet, your spouse, your kids, or whoever is in your life. Love wholeheartedly.
7. Sing. Sing along with the radio. Who cares who hears you in the car? No one is going to hear you in the shower. Belt it out sister. And I'm sure singing from the gut burns a calorie or two.
8. Drink water. I know I don't drink the recommended amount of water each day, but knowing that I made an effort to drink some always makes me feel so much better about myself.
9. Swap out sweets. Instead of drinking soda when I crave a sweet beverage, I swap it out for some OJ. The sweetness of the orange gives me that sweetened beverage taste I was looking for, yet is so much better for you.
10. Breathe. Slow down. Look around. Clear your thoughts. Notice a flower. Look at the landscape. Simmer....

What is on your list of 10 things for a happier, healthier you??

Gerber Graduates, growing with your sweetheart!

Making the right snack choices for my kids can be difficult. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting them into the same snacking rut, and that there's little to no variety in what they're having. Cheese, fruit, veggies, crackers, the occasional cookie. It all gets old quick and they sure let me know it. I'm loving the Gerber Graduates has a line of snacks that both Boug and Lil' Buddy have begun to love!

Gerber Graduates now has their fruit twists, cereal twists and chewy granola bars, all geared toward preschoolers. Seems to me that Buddy really liked the cereal twists the best while Boug was a huge fan of the fruit twists. Either way, I'm happy with what they're eating. The fruit twists are two flavors, twisted together, and made with 99% real concentrated fruit and juice. Each twist is half of a serving of fruit and provide 20% of a preschoolers recommended amount of vitamin C! For the cereal twists, being made with whole grains and filled with two different yogurt flavors, they're great for on the go snacking that isn't a crappy convenience food that you'll normally find while you're out and about. The chewy granola bars are made with whole grain rolled oats and wheat flakes, they carry about 6 grams of whole grains per bar! The granola bars provide 10% of the daily value for 4 different vitamins and minerals.

I love Gerber products, and I love that these preschooler snacks take an extra step out of my already hectic days. Sometimes its just nice to turn to a brand that you trust, instead of dicing, cutting, prepping, washing, mixing, and all those other things that you sometimes need to do in order to simply give your kid a snack.

You can even order the Gerber Graduates cereal twists, fruit twists, and chewy granola bars, at amazon.com for buying in bulk and having them conveniently shipped to your door!

I received a set of Gerber Graduates products to aid in my review, which in no way affected the way that I feel about the company. My opinions are my opinions, take them or leave them.

I'd love to know, sex or communication?

After giving this much thought, I figured, what better place to ask then the "general public" who visit my site? I'd ask the actual general public, but I'd rather not stand up on a podium with a megaphone asking this one. Its a bit personal.

In any relationship, in general, where does the connection lay? Should it be equal parts mental stimulation with equal parts physical stimulation? Do you feel like you can connect better physically if you are already connecting mentally?

I tend to "shut-off" (for lack of a better phrase) my sexual desire if the mental connection isn't there. I find it quite easy to do, and that mental, intellectual, friendly spark is more of a aphrodisiac then anything else to me. For me, it's gotta be 65% mental connection with 35% physical attraction connection.

I made it into a poll, just in case anyone didn't want to discuss it. For those of you who are willing to discuss, I'm looking forward to your thoughts in the comments!!

Don't forget about the census!!

I've already forgotten to fill out my census form, and I need to remind you, just like I needed to remind myself, to do so. The very last day for mailing it in is TOMORROW, April 16th!! Since our country isn't in the best economic state, mailing it in versus having census takers come out can potentially save taxpayers and government $1.5 billion! That's a lot of freakin' money!!

Children Count Too! United States Census 2010

This is my first year as an adult filling out the census form, since its only once every ten years that its taken. A lot has changed in my life in the last ten years and I'm sure I'm not the only one. By filling out the census and accounting for my two awesome kids, the government is able to get a better grasp for dishing out public funding. Things like Head Start, special education grants, teacher quality state grants and more are affected by improper counts of kids and why take away from them when its easy enough to just fill out and mail in the form? To think, that ten years ago in the 2000 census there was an undercount of over 1 million kids under age ten.

Don't forget to fill out and mail in your census form and account for your little tikes!!

On a more serious note... alcohol awareness...

I try and keep things light around here. I try not to dwell on negative, but sometimes talking about a negative situation or scenario may help avoid that same one in the future. Some of you may know, alcoholism hits close to home. I'm married to a recovering alcoholic and its not an easy battle. I know he struggles, although I'll never truly know how he feels. I know its a disease that taunts and tempts and can play tricks on your mind. Though alcoholism is a disease, we can do things as parents to keep it from flourishing in our kids. At least I like to think that every little bit helps...

Did you know that 40% of kids have tried alcohol by 8th grade? And the kids who start drinking by the time that they are 15 are SIX TIMES more likely to have alcohol problems versus those who wait til after 21 to drink. I know that I'm no angel, and yes, I drank before I was 21, a lot... but I'd hate to see my children end up with a dependency to alcohol or other issues in their lives due to alcohol. The Ad Council and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration have come together to bring a resource to light that can give great tools and action plans for talking to our kids about alcohol.

Sometimes I don't know what parents excuses are for NOT talking to their children when there are so many resources available. Why not just do it? You can set yourself up for success in the conversation if you do your research and create a plan for yourself to talk to your kids. At the underage drinking website, you can create your own action plan, and they make it so easy to do. Simply click down the list and they'll give you great resources so that you can make the discussion go as smoothly as you can. Being an informed parent is definitely a good thing and informing our kids about the dangers of underage drinking is even better.

Talk early. Talk often. Get others involved.

Pasting up my babies tushie...

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boudreaux's Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

There are some things that I thought I'd never say. I never thought I'd have to tell one of my kids, "Don't lick the cat." I never thought that I'd say that I'm using "butt paste" on my little guy's diaper rash. But as a parent, you say what it is that you HAVE TO say, and you do what it is you HAVE TO do, and you use the products that you KNOW are on your side. I recently found out that I have been barking up the wrong tree when I came to diaper rash products and I could definitely smack myself for it. Using Boudreaux's Butt Paste has become a Godsend for Lil' Buddy's diaper rashes!!

Here's the deal with Bud, we've recently learned that he simply cannot have any sort of juice. Not even juice cut with water to bring it down a notch. For a while, we couldn't seem to find what was causing the diarhhea and the instant diaper rash that accompanied it. Which of course meant lots of diaper changing and lots of ointment using. Realizing that its the juice has been a huge help, but switching to Boudreaux's Butt Paste has been a big help as well with clearing up the residual diaper rash.

Boudreaux's doesn't have that strong smell like other diaper ointments do. Its not greasy or slimy, I've found it to be the perfect consistency for easy spreading on those cheeks. Its skin protectant contains 16% zinc oxide as well as Peruvian Balsam. Created by a pharmacist along with a pediatrician, you can trust Boudreaux's, and if you're afraid to head out and buy it before you try it, you can request a sample! Happy UBP2010!!!

Hey everyone! Happy Ultimate Blog Party 2010!! Once again, I'm stoked that 5m4m is hosting this and I love how easy they make it to hit up so many different sites.

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

A little about me if you're new to A Couch With A View...
My name is Casey and I'm the only one that you'll find writing here. I'm a mom of a 5 year old little girl and a 19 month old little boy. I work part time as a waitress, full time as a mom, always and all the time am I losing my mind. I write here because its sometimes the only outlet I have, not only that, but I absolutely love the friendships and connections that I've made over the years. I live in a little town in upstate NY, and I'm ridiculously looking forward to BlogHer this year, its just not coming quick enough for me to see my blogging buds!! At A Couch With A View, you'll generally find random rants, reviews, giveaways, and much more. Each week I post a menu plan along with recipes, and most are really easy, pretty cheap, and mucho delicious!

You can find me on Twitter @CaseyDeuce or on Facebook.

Make sure you head over to 5m4m and mingle amongst the UBP'ers!!
