Some People Just Don't Know When....

Some people just don't know when to shut up.

We went across the river last night to get our taxes done. We had the most wonderful tax preparer, I swear he could have been Joe Biden's brother, big friendly smile and very nice. We laughed with him and as odd as it sounds, had a pretty good time getting our taxes done. Boug was well behaved, Lil' Buddy didn't cry.... all in all I couldn't have been happier.

Until...

A young couple with a baby came in and they wound up with the tax preparer next to us. We didn't initiate conversation, not to sound cold, but we don't know these people and we couldn't have cared less about them at that time. We just wanted to get our taxes done and go home, I mean c'mon, Hell's Kitchen started back up last night. We wanted to get home!!! Lil' Buddy was sitting up on Hubby's lap and bouncing and smiling. The father at the next spot over looked at him and said to us "WOW, he's so big!!" We did the whole, yeah... smile and nod, and didn't continue the conversation. Please remember, I get the whole "big baby" bit constantly, Hubby's 6'6" so of course I have big kids. The guy's next line is now... "He's like ABNORMAL big!" Seriously, who says that? I wanted to look over and say (whether it was true or not) "YEAH? Well your baby's ugly!!" But I couldn't do that. I said what I usually say... "Well, his dad is 6'6" so of course he's a big guy" looked away and continued to talk to my husband, daughter and tax preparer.

Hub had to use the bathroom so Lil' Buddy got handed off to me, and being the one closer to this P.I.T.A. guy, he now says to me "His hands are HUGE! They're almost as big as mine!!" At this point, I'm done. I'm done responding. I'm done acknowedging that this guy is even talking. I'm DONE. Cause if I continued to pay attention, I was going to end up in JAIL. I wanted to pummel this guy. And his wife/girlfriend/baby mama whatever, had absolutely nothing to say about anything. We finish up our taxes, praise our preparer, pack up all the baby stuff, get jackets on and go....

When does one realize that they need to shut up?? When do you start to actually listen to yourself talk and say "hey, I sound pretty dumb".... ? When do you know that you have sucessfully inserted your foot right into your mouth?

I know enough not to care what other people say, I know not to let it get to me, but son of a b*tch ... it gets to me.... My kids are my life, my family is my life. Keep your freakin' mouth shut. Its that whole line I learned many many moons ago... "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!!"

Aloha Friday #5

Really? Already???

Its Aloha Friday time again!!

Photobucket

Like Kailani says....

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

This weeks question to you...
Is there one thing that you have the hardest time keeping up with?

For me, its DISHES!!! I'm aweful with it and there are almost always an overrun of dishes on the counter next to the sink. I wish I had a dishwasher instead of being the dishwasher!!

Want to participate in Aloha Friday?? Head over to An Island Life and link up!!

Thousand Words Thursday #1

Cheaper Than Therapy

You know what they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." So every Thursday over at Cheaper than Therapy, Thousand Words Thursday is hosted. Post your picture of 1000 words!

Photobucket
Obviously Sierra cant even stand the presence of Boug. You can see the dislike in the cats eyes and the evil grin on Bougs face. I'm sure about 2.3 seconds after I snapped this, Boug probably tried to "hug" the cat.

Journal Buddies Review!!

I received the Journal Buddies book by Jill Schoenberg to review and I'm so pleased!! This is one of the most constructive books that I've seen for young girls in a long time!! With 2 nieces under 14 and a 4 year old daughter, I love finding things that are confidence building for them, not just novelty items.

Photobucket

I love this book and with my 11 year old neices birthday coming up soon, this is the perfect gift. She lives in a very busy house with little time to herself, it definitely gives a girl a chance to reflect on her awesomeness and magnificence!

There is a great section to guide girlies in the right direction to begin journaling, since a lot of girls don't even do things like that anymore. One of the main focuses are NO PUT DOWNS!! Which I think is so important! So many times girls think that they aren't measuring up, putting themselves down and just aren't all that special. Next up is a whopping 30 days of journaling, each day with a different "build-you-up" focus word! On day 14, its laugh, on day 7 its magical and on day 20 its unique. Each day a different word so that girls can focus on another aspect of their wonderfulness!! After 30 days of journaling there's a section for reflection, so that girls can see exactly the progress that they have made during the journaling process.

Journal Buddies has been been given the Dove Family-Approved Seal and was a finalist for the Mom's Choice Awards!! Quality my dear friends, quality. The author says "these books give kids a core self-esteem experience that lives inside them forever." I think that is one of the most important things that we can do for our kiddos!!

Journal Buddies is available for purchase from the Journal Buddies website and when you purchase you'll receive an author signed copy, over $83 in bonus gifts, a 45 day money-back guarantee and a free pack of journaling supplies! And for $16.95, Journal Buddies is cheaper and more constructive than a video game!! You are also able to get an unsigned copy at Amazon.com.

Big thank you to Jill and the Family Review Network for making this review possible!! Check out the Family Review Network for more opinions on this fab book and other wonderful products!!

1GreatPlaceToShop Bibs!!

I'm a shopper, yes, but I LOVE a great price and I LOVE a great handmade item. I was searching before Christmas for a Campbells Soup Print bib and they only person who had one for me was Michelle at 1GreatPlaceToShop on ebay.

Michelle has over 500 fabrics to customize your sweeties bibs with! This last time around, I got an Incredibles bib (Boug's choice for her brother), a few golf themed bibs (Daddy's choice for his son), a buggy print and music notes. These are some great bibs because they have not just 1 set of snaps in the back. There are THREE sets in the back!! They are backed with terry cloth so they are super absorbant and there's no scratchy velcro to worry about!

Photobucket

And these bibs are BIG, they aren't rinky dinky! They cover a nice large area so you really dont have to worry about ruining the little ones clothes! And don't forget, Michelle has some great specials- buy 5 bibs and get a 6th free or buy 12 bibs and get 3 free!! At $4.77 a bib and shipping only $2.55, its worth it. But if you purchase more than one, there's no way that shipping is going over $6.50!!! Like she says- "it pays to shop in multiples!"

Please go on and check out 1GreatPlaceToShop and let her know that Casey sent you!! Pick up a few for your messy baby, your friends baby shower or whomever else needs one of these adorable and practical bibbers!!

Why I Blog.

For me, blogging wasn't something that I had pictured myself doing. I would occasionally read blogs, and I was a lurker for a while. I read and never commented, I laughed along, and had heartfelt feelings for people, but they never knew it. I was shy at the beginning. (Though anyone who actually knows me, knows I am not at all shy!)

I started commenting. People were so friendly! They actually noticed my comments!! That opened up a whole can of worms!! I started commenting all over, I started entering the giveaways and I snagged up some wonderful things in the process. But more importantly, I had a "network."

Being a stay at home mom, home all week without a car is tough. The only friend that I have in real life who is still in the area is about an hour away. My friends aren't stay at home moms like me, they have busy jobs, careers even. They have no kids, most of them barely relate to me anymore. Being involved with blogging made me see that I can still have friends, even if we don't talk on the phone, take shopping trips or anything else that friends do together in life. We do these things differently around the blog-o-sphere.

The little bit of acceptance started the ball rolling, I got my own blog and I wound up making more friends! More people came to see what I had to say! I couldn't believe it at first- people care about what I have to say!?!? People want to give me advice about topics that I needed help with?!?! People thought that items that I used could help them out?!?! Little ol' me? CaseyDeuce who lost her self confidence years ago because of all the grown apart friendships? I was dumbfounded.

Since then I have met so many amazing women, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, brothers, fathers, and the list goes on. Each person has something so special to bring to a friendship and that has been the greatest reward of my blogging experiences. I finally feel like I fit in somewhere, like what I've been doing makes sense. Its a tension reliever to be able to chat with these people and I feel truly lucky to know them.

Footprints in the Sa... err... Snow....

I love where I live. We're basically in the middle of a field. Quiet, though not quiet enough for my neighbors downstairs, they hate how much my daughter runs around. Beautiful view of the mountains and lots of room for running around outside. The field is a wonderful thing... Though it creates crazy crazy snow drifts.
